What's an EOR?

An EOR, or Employer of Record, is a service that enables firms to hire people in countries where they do not have a local presence.Establishing a local corporation in a foreign nation is both time-consuming and costly. If a corporation is not willing to make a long-term commitment to developing a workforce in a specific country, an EOR is an excellent option for compliantly employing overseas without incurring the costs of establishing an entity. An EOR hires your overseas employee on your behalf and is in charge of payroll, remitting local taxes, providing necessary benefits, and meeting other compliance requirements.

What is an EOR platform?

An EOR platform is a secure online interface that manages payroll, documentation, and human resource compliance for multinational teams. An EOR platform is used for processes such as employee onboarding (which includes signing local employment contracts and agreements), payroll processing, and employee benefits administration.

What is the difference between an EOR and a PEO?

A professional employer organization (PEO) is a co-employer model in Canada in which the PEO handles a portion of the employer's duties, such as payroll, taxes, benefits, and workers' compensation insurance. In contrast, an EOR is a global service in which the EOR is the sole employer of record; the EOR hires people on behalf of client companies without requiring them to establish a local entity there. How does an EOR work?

An EOR operates by lawfully employing your foreign personnel via its own local organizations. EORs are experts in local employment regulations and can assure compliance in areas such as onboarding, payroll, remuneration, benefits, severance and termination, and more. The EOR co-signs the employment contract with the employee and then assigns them to your organization via a service agreement. Your company is responsible for the employee's day-to-day management.
